THC-P is unlike any cannabinoid that I’ve seen before. THC-P has staggering psychoactive effects and is estimated to be 30 times more potent than regular THC. And you can buy it right now in the form of legal, hemp-derived THC-P cartridges!

THC-P is new to us all, and plenty of conflicting information about this fascinating substance is online. In this guide, I want to discuss THC-P carts, who they are for, and why they are legal. I’ll also explore what makes a superb THC-P product.

Let’s start by looking at the top five THC-P carts available in 2023.

1. Utoya – Entourage Reserve High THC-P Vape Carts

THC-P Carts

By far the most potent THC-P products on the market, Utoya’s Entourage Reserve Vape Carts have an incredible 150mg THC-P. That might not sound a lot, and it’s complemented by 750mg THC-O or HHC, but it’s a stunning amount, given the strength of THC-P.

Utoya’s carts have between five and 10 times as much THC-P as their competitors’ carts. If you are seeking the most intense legal cannabis-style high possible, look no further. Utoya also mixes in 1mg of live resin terpenes for natural flavoring.

Choose from a relaxing HHC and THC-P blend or a more energizing THC-O and THC-P e-liquid. Utoya’s Entourage Reserve carts contain 100% pure, hemp-based distillate and no cutting agents. Third-party tested with less than 0.3% THC.

Blends: Blueberry OG (HHC + THC-P), Lemon Jack (THC-O + THC-P)

2. Binoid – THC-P Vape Cartridges

THC-P Carts

Always a trusted brand when it comes to lesser-known cannabinoids, Binoid has developed some impressive vape carts, despite not matching the potency of Utoya’s. The blend of delta-8 and THC-P makes for intense psychoactive effects with an invigorating twist.

Binoid doesn’t specify the exact amount of THC-P in its carts but notes that it’s only a small percentage. However, even a low quantity of THC-P produces a massive buzz with deep relaxation and relief. The tasty terpenes compensate for any harshness on the throat.

Binoid’s 510-threaded THC-P carts come in six unique strains – a mixture of indicas, sativas, and hybrids. Third-party tested by Altitude Consulting for Farm Bill compliance.

Strains: Amnesia Haze (Sativa – Connected), Trainwreck (Sativa – Recharge), Aurora (Indica – Ascend), God’s Gift (Indica – Peaceful), Fruit Loops (Hybrid – Social), Thai Chi (Hybrid – Meditation)

3. Bay Smokes – THC-P + Delta-8 Cartridges

THC-P Carts

Bay Smokes also opts for a THC-P and delta-8 combination, ensuring unforgettable highs with plenty of stimulation. The cart mostly contains delta-8 with a dash of THC-P distillate, topped off with a generous serving of natural terpenes.

Like all good vape cart manufacturers, Bay Smokes steers clear of cutting agents, preferring a clean and pure e-liquid with only the essential ingredients. Some find THC-P vapor harsh on the throat, but I was satisfied with the smoothness of these Bay Smokes carts.

Their current collection consists of five strains – a combo of sativas, indicas, and hybrids. Bay Smokes supplies recent third-party COAs from Altitude Consulting and KCA Labs.

Strains: Blueberry OG, Gorilla Glue, Green Crack, Pineapple Express, Trainwreck

4. Delta Farms – THCV + THC-P + Delta-8 Vape Cartridges

THC-P Carts

Delta Farms do things differently, as demonstrated here with these “ultimate sativa” vape cartridges. Super-potent THC-P combines with mildly psychotropic delta-8 and energizing THCV – the cannabinoid cocktail makes for an invigorating high.

Delta Farms uses pure delta-8 and THC-P distillates with cannabis-derived terpenes for maximum flavor. They clarify that THC-P’s effects last up to twice as long as other cannabinoids and that their carts generate a familiar, marijuana aroma.

The all-ceramic cartridge design makes for better-tasting vapor, free from metallic contamination. These 510-threaded, 1-gram carts contain 22mg THC-P extract. Third-party tested by Encore Labs and PharmLabs San Diego.

Strains: Green Crack, Super Silver Haze, XJ-13

5. Alpine Dispensary – THC-P Vape Cartridges

THC-P Carts

Finally, we have Alpine Dispensary’s collection of THC-P carts. Stressing the unprecedented potency of THC-P, they’ve taken a cautious approach, adding in only 24mg extract. But that’s still the equivalent of more than 700mg of THC!

Interestingly, Alpine Dispensary has gone for a THC-P isolate e-liquid, making up the rest of the cart with natural bio-propanediol and delicious terpenes. They are the first brand I’ve seen go down the THC-P isolate route with no complementing delta-8, THCV, or HHC.

Alpine Dispensary suggests vaping within a 2.5-to-3.8-volt range. The 510-threaded carts work with all matching vape batteries and have been third-party tested by KCA Labs.

Strains: Skywalker OG (Indica), Jack Herer (Sativa), Lemon Diesel (Hybrid)

What are THC-P Cartridges?

THC-P cartridges are vaping products with above-average levels of THC-P. Because the cannabinoid is outrageously potent, carts typically have less than 50mg THC-P – but that’s still enormous, given that THC-P is 30 times stronger than THC.

In addition to THC-P, carts often have significant quantities of other cannabinoids, such as delta-8, HHC, or THC-O. These substances become super-charged with a dash of the mind-boggling THC-P.

Only use THC-P carts if you have previous experience with potent cannabis trips. These products are for well-versed psychonauts and regular users, not those who occasionally dabble in marijuana. THC-P’s strength makes side effects and an unpleasant trip more likely.

Cartridges deliver THC-P into your system in vapor form – a consumption method renowned for its intense, hard-hitting effects. Vape carts with 510-threaded connections attach to 510-threaded batteries, making vaping more convenient than ever before.

THC-P has only been on the market for a few months, and I’ve not yet seen any standalone THC-P e-liquids. But carts pre-sealed with vape juice are less hassle than e-liquid in bottles, with minimal maintenance needed – keep your vape battery charged, and you’ll be fine!

What is THC-P?

THC-P, also known as Delta-9-THCP, THC-Heptyl, and Tetrahydrocannabiphorol, is an extremely psychoactive cannabinoid. Initially thought to be a synthetic homolog of THC, researchers recently discovered naturally occurring THC-P in cannabis for the first time.

Chemically speaking, THC-P has a longer side chain than THC, which explains its significantly more potent effects. Early studies suggest THC-P’s binding affinity at CB1 receptors in the endocannabinoid system (ECS) is 30 times greater than THC’s.

THC-P is not only more powerful than THC, but it lasts longer, too – up to twice as long, according to anecdotes. While the average THC vaping experience lasts three hours, a THC-P high can last six.

The surprising identification of THC-P in cannabis has fuelled theories that there are other undiscovered super-strength cannabinoids in the plant. Cannabis experts are baffled as to why some strains are so much more psychoactive than others – the likes of THC-P may explain why.

Even so, the THC-P used in commercial products isn’t naturally extracted – it’s more efficient and affordable to produce THC-P in laboratories.

How to use THC-P cartridges

Considering the astonishing strength of THC-P carts compared to THC, HHC, and delta-8 carts, I recommend dosing with caution. Taking a cavalier approach and rushing in with a large dose makes side effects and a bad trip more likely.

If provided, follow the manufacturer’s dosage guidelines. But if left to work things out for yourself, I advise starting with one or two puffs and waiting at least 45 minutes to see how you feel. By this point, all the THC-P should have kicked in.

Have another hit or two if your high isn’t intense enough, and keep dosing at 45-minute intervals until you reach peak euphoria. Stop taking THC-P immediately if you start experiencing any anxiety, paranoia, or hallucinations.

In the event of a bad trip, take a few hits on a CBD cartridge to calm down. The non-psychoactive CBD has a suppressant effect on psychoactive cannabinoids that engage with CB1 receptors. Hence, you can literally use CBD products to make you less stoned!

The legal status of THC-P cartridges

It doesn’t seem right that THC-P is legal when it’s 30 times more psychotropic than banned THC – but it’s true! And it’s all thanks to the 2018 Agriculture Improvement Act (Farm Bill). Full legalization of all-natural cannabinoids except THC has made a legal space for THC-P.

However, THC-P carts must still conform to a couple of Farm Bill regulations. Firstly, THC-P extract needs to come from hemp plants with less than 0.3% THC. And secondly, the THC-P cartridge itself must not exceed this strict THC limit.

THC-P carts with less than 0.3% enjoy legal protection under the Farm Bill. But products with more than the maximum THC meet the definition of marijuana and are Schedule 1 drugs under the Controlled Substances Act.

THC-P cartridges and drug tests

Unfortunately, we have limited research on THC-P, its metabolites, and whether drug tests can detect it. But from what we know about drug tests and other chemicals closely related to THC, the prognosis is not good.

The similarities between THC-P and THC mean that drug tests probably can detect the cannabinoid. Moreover, THC-P carts typically contain other THC-like cannabinoids, such as delta-8, which definitely show up on drug tests.

Some brands selling THC-P carts warn that they could pose problems with drug tests. If it’s too late and you already have THC-P or delta-8 in your system, synthetic urine or detox products could help bail you out of trouble.

What to Look for When Buying THC-P Cartridges

It’s good to know which brands you can trust, but it’s even better to know what to look for when browsing for THC-P carts. I have four factors for you to keep in mind.

Third-party certificates of analysis (COA)

Sadly, you can’t take companies at their word in this industry. No Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulation means that brands can get away with questionable claims and outright lies about their products. But third-party testing has helped clean up the market.

All THC-P carts should have a COA, verifying THC-P levels, Farm Bill compliance, and preferably purity, too. Transparent and good-faith brands make lab reports accessible to all. Any shady and secretive behavior regarding COA suggests foul play.

Quantity of THC-P

THC-P concentrations vary, but with such a potent substance, every milligram matters. For instance, Alpine Dispensary’s carts have 24mg THC-P, whereas Utoya’s have 150mg, making Utoya’s product six times more potent!

If you’re new to THC-P, try a product with less than 30mg of it. Only move up to the more intense recreational carts once you’re familiar with the drug.

Terpenes

Most THC-P carts have terpenes. They make the vapor tasty and influence whether you’ll experience a relaxed or energized high. For soothing, night-time sedation, pick up an indica cart; for a morning boost, indulge in a sativa. And get a hybrid if you need an all-day strain.

Cutting agents

I recommend avoiding vape cartridges with cutting agents. The likes of PG, VG, and MCT oil dilute THC-P’s effects for no good reason. Moreover, every extra and unnecessary ingredient increases the risk of problems. I’m not 100% convinced it’s safe to vape MCT oil.

How to Store Your THC-P Cartridges

Keep THC-P cartridges in cool, dry, and dark conditions for long-term storage and always out of direct sunlight. As an additional precaution for those with kids, detach the cartridge from the battery and store both in a locked, unreachable cupboard.

How Long Do THC-P Cartridges Last?

We have much to learn about THC-P’s impact on the body. But it appears that THC-P produces a longer-lasting effect than THC, delta-8, and HHC cannabinoids. The average THC-P cart experience may last for up to six hours rather than the typical three.

Purchasing THC-P Cartridges Online vs. Shops Near Me

So far, THC-P remains relatively obscure and hasn’t gone mainstream like delta-8 and delta-10 have. Yet even if THC-P does soar in popularity, you should still purchase from respected online vendors and avoid shopping at brick-and-mortar stores.

Unfortunately, the cannabis scene has a history of low-quality and dangerous vaping products doing the rounds. Genuine online stores go the extra mile to ensure your safety, only stocking products from third-party brands while making the COAs freely available.
