The best way to enjoy the fast-acting benefits of inhaling CBD is by using a CBD inhaler. Safer than smoking and vaping, inhalers give you the speedy, efficient relief you’ve been seeking without compromising your health.

In this review, I want to discuss the upsides of CBD-infused inhalers and how they compare to other CBD products. I’ll also help you find a suitable inhaler so you can have the best possible CBD experience.

Let’s start by reviewing the top five CBD hemp-based inhalers of 2023!

CBD LUXE – Metered Dose Inhalers

CBD Inhalers

You can dose precisely and efficiently with a Metered Dose Inhaler from CBD LUXE, maximizing CBD’s effects. Each pulmonary inhaler releases a set amount of CBD (5.5mg) with every puff, delivering it immediately into your bloodstream.

CBD LUXE’s inhalers provide a hefty 200 doses, giving you more than 1,000mg CBD per canister. Moreover, they harness Micell Technology, making the full-spectrum extract water-soluble and more bioavailable than regular CBD.

These metered-dose inhalers also contain green tea, stevia, and ginseng, ensuring an all-encompassing therapeutic experience. CBD LUXE’s inhalers are Farm Bill compliant, as shown by the third-party analysis from Botanacor.

Types: BE ACTIVE – Spearmint Lemon, BE CALM – Lavender Chamomile, BE CLEAR – Regular, BE WELL – Green Tea, Honey

Well Beings – CBD Nano Mist Inhaler

CBD Inhalers

Obtain more than 12 hours of CBD relief with the Nano Mist Inhaler by Well Beings. All-natural and made with THC-free, broad-spectrum hemp oil, the Nano Mist administers 6mg CBD at a time, with 200 doses per inhaler (1200mg CBD total).

Well, Beings boasts an impressive 85% absorption rate from its inhalers, considerably more than you can expect from a standard CBD product. Choose from the Calm canister’s citrus flavor or the Relief inhaler’s minty freshness.

Botanacor provides third-party certificates of analysis for these Well Beings products. Both inhalers are Farm Bill compliant with rich concentrations of CBD and no detectable THC.

Types: Calm, Relief

Boom Boom CBD – CBD Nasal Inhaler

CBD Inhalers

Improve your breathing and alleviate stress with Boom Boom CBD’s Nasal Inhaler. Made with a blend of active cannabinoids and therapeutic-grade essential oils, expect more benefits than if taking CBD alone.

Boom Boom uses all-natural ingredients in its 1-gram inhalers and 50mg of organically-grown, broad-spectrum CBD extract with no THC whatsoever. The addition of peppermint oil, spearmint oil, eucalyptus oil, and menthol makes for a refreshing taste.

With Boom Boom’s daily-use inhaler, you can breathe easy once again. This product is BPA-free, made in the United States, and third-party tested by Folium Biosciences. Available individually and in 3-packs.

Vapen CBD – CBD Inhaler

CBD Inhalers

Make vaping and smoking a thing of the past with a CBD-infused inhaler from Vapen CBD. These 1000mg canisters that produce little to no aroma guarantee discretion, convenience, and dosing precision.

Vapen CBD blends the hemp extract with natural terpene profiles for authentic flavoring. These inhalers are pharmaceutical-grade, pressurized, metered-dose, and have a stunning 99.5% active cannabinoid concentration.

Vapen is a well-known brand in the hemp industry with a lofty reputation. But the absence of easily accessible third-party analyses goes against them. Perhaps they have them somewhere, but I couldn’t find them.

Flavors: Bubble Gum, Raw, Strawberry

Monarch Life Sciences – Nano Mist ATOMIZER Inhaler

CBD Inhalers

Get your CBD dose accurately and discreetly with a Nano Mist ATOMIZER Inhaler from Monarch Life Sciences. Infused with 1500mg full-spectrum hemp extract, the ATOMIZER offers more than 8mg CBD per spray with 180 doses per inhaler.

Monarch uses full-spectrum hemp oil from Hempzorb81, which boosts bioavailability. Choose from a broad range of inhalers and unique effects. For example, the Focus inhaler comes with ginkgo and ginseng for increased concentration and alertness.

I like the Sleep inhaler, too, which contains relaxing and sleep-promoting cannabinol (CBN). Shake before use and spray up to 12 times per day. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find third-party reports for Monarch’s CBD inhalers.

Types: Balance, Energy, Focus, Relax, Sleep

What are CBD Inhalers?

CBD inhalers are devices designed for immediate relief without the harmful effects of smoking or vaping. Delivering near-instant benefits, CBD-infused inhalers are also discreet, producing little smell, making them ideal for on-the-go consumption.

Metered-dose inhalers are popular, as these emit a specified quantity of CBD with each puff. Getting a set dosage is trickier with CBD vaping products and almost impossible when smoking CBD-rich joints. Inhalers are perfect if you want to sensibly self-medicate.

Inhalers typically contain high-quality hemp extract and a combination of essential oils or adaptogens. Some manufacturers also include natural terpenes for flavor and extra effects.

The best brands use water-soluble CBD enhanced via nanotechnology to improve the absorption of cannabinoids into your system. Nanotechnology breaks down CBD molecules into smaller chunks, optimizing bioavailability.

Why you should use a CBD inhaler

Inhalation is the fastest way to get CBD into your body with a commercial product. Technically, you could consume CBD intravenously or intramuscularly, but these methods of administration are not feasible and are only used during scientific research.

We all know that smoking is harmful, and while experts agree that vaping is less dangerous, it’s not 100% safe, either. But with a CBD inhaler, you can get the immediate relief required to deal with your symptoms without damaging your lungs.

I confess that I’m a bit of a control freak. I like to know exactly how much CBD I’m taking – right down to the milligram. With a metered-dose inhaler, dosing with such accuracy becomes simple. If an inhaler emits 5mg per puff, I know I’ll need four puffs for a 20mg dose!

What is CBD?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a naturally occurring cannabinoid found in the cannabis plant, noted for its non-intoxicating nature. With CBD, you can enjoy many of marijuana’s therapeutic effects without the psychoactive “high” caused by THC.

The hemp-based CBD industry has emerged from nothing into a multi-billion market in less than a decade – that’s the power of CBD! Despite being merely one of more than 110 cannabinoids, CBD is unique in that it improves endocannabinoid system (ECS) functioning.

In the world of science, the ECS remains a relatively unexplored frontier. Only identified in the 1990s, researchers still have much to discover about how it works. But we know it’s a critical part of our biological makeup.

The ECS helps regulate mood, immune system well-being, bone health, appetite, memory and learning, anxiety, and other mental and physical functions. According to Dr. Ethan Russo, a dysfunctional ECS may also be the underlying cause of fibromyalgia and migraines.

Unfortunately, due to decades of prohibition, CBD research has progressed slowly. Yet CBD’s rapid rise and surveys showing that more than 60% of users take products as a form of self-medication are indicative of its potential.

And with the ECS having such broad influence over our health, it’s plausible that CBD could assist with various seemingly unlinked conditions. However, some continue to dismiss CBD as snake oil and accuse those who laud its benefits of receiving a placebo effect.

Types of hemp extract in CBD inhalers

Not all CBD inhalers are cut from the same cloth! Any of the following three types of hemp extract could be present in your inhaler. Make sure you know what you’re getting!

CBD-isolate: For a pure CBD experience, CBD-isolate hemp extract is what you need. Separated from hemp’s secondary cannabinoids and, crucially, the THC, inhalers with CBD-isolate cost a few bucks less and ensure a clean drug test.

Full-spectrum hemp: Quite the opposite, full-spectrum hemp packs in CBD, minor cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids, and up to 0.3% THC – the legal federal limit.

For the added benefits of the entourage effect, full-spectrum hemp is best. But sadly, the presence of THC means you aren’t 100% in the clear with drug tests.

Broad-spectrum hemp: Stay drug test secure without dampening hemp’s effects by choosing broad-spectrum extract. These THC-free inhalers contain beneficial minor cannabinoids such as cannabinol (CBN), cannabigerol (CBG), and terpenes, too!

Health benefits of CBD inhalers

Companies selling hemp-derived, CBD-rich inhalers are quick to note that their products are not intended to treat, cure, or prevent any disease. But many take CBD as a natural medicine anyway, and inhalers’ fast-acting effects are attractive for certain conditions.

The quick relief may work well if you suffer from sharp, shooting pains, like nerve pain. Anxiety attacks are also eased more effectively with rapid-acting products like inhalers.

CBD inhalers and drug tests

At the federal level, only hemp-based CBD inhalers are legal. By the Farm Bill definition, hemp products must have less than 0.3% THC, but they can have unlimited quantities of CBD.

However, legality does not always mean a clean drug test – although not due to CBD. Standard 5 and 9-panel drug tests look for THC metabolites, such as THC-COOH. Since full-spectrum inhalers have traces of THC, a positive test is possible.

It comes down to how often you use the inhaler and the sensitivity of the test. Daily users consuming 50 to 100mg of full-spectrum CBD could set off a high-sensitivity test with a low THC threshold. That THC hangs around in your system for weeks doesn’t help.

Rather than gambling on a full-spectrum inhaler, I recommend playing it safe with a broad-spectrum or CBD-isolate product. These still give you CBD’s benefits and, perhaps more importantly, full peace of mind.

What to Look for When Buying CBD Inhalers

It’s a little easier to shop for inhalers than CBD oils and other standard CBD products. Fewer brands make inhalers, and the reduced selection gives me more mental clarity! But otherwise, the process is the same as when buying any other type of CBD.

Before we go on, don’t forget my top five CBD inhalers listed earlier in the piece!

Third-party certificates of analysis (COA)

Keep safe when using CBD by purchasing from third-party tested companies. Disregard claims from brands that cannot provide independent backing about their inhalers’ safety, potency, and legality.

The top CBD manufacturers supply third-party COAs for each batch of inhalers. These are either readily available on the company’s website or accessible by entering the batch lot code found on the product packaging.

CBD potency

CBD inhalers vary in potency, with some people needing much more than others to alleviate their symptoms. Thankfully, accurate dosing is a top reason for choosing inhalers, so brands usually have clear information about the strength of their products.

Check how much CBD is in the entire inhaler and how much you get from each inhalation – confirm these figures on the COA. Some companies describe dosages purely in terms of CBD, while others refer to the levels of active cannabinoids (i.e., CBD + CBG + CBN, etc.).

Extra ingredients

CBD inhalers may also contain adaptogens and essential oils. You may find this information upfront. If not, check the ingredient list. You don’t want an adverse or allergic reaction!

How to Store Your CBD Inhalers

Store CBD inhalers in a cool, dry, dark place, away from direct sunlight. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Replace the mouthpiece cover after use to prevent dust and fluff from accumulating.

How Long Do CBD Inhalers Last?

According to the brands selling these products, CBD inhalers work for anywhere between three to 12 hours. I feel 12 hours is stretching it for an inhaler – generally, inhaled CBD kicks in quickly before wearing off after a few hours.

Purchasing CBD Inhalers Online vs. Shops Near Me

Shop for CBD inhalers with a reputable online vendor. After the pandemic, I understand the desire to support local businesses. But brick-and-mortar shops are notoriously unreliable when it comes to hemp-based products like CBD.

Safety is paramount, especially with an inhaler. For leading online stores, COAs are part and parcel of selling CBD. Frustratingly, many physical shops neglect this responsibility, failing to provide lab results for products – this exposes customers to fake and even dangerous CBD.
